Lifted by lighter mornings and the familiar comforts of the fine art that surrounds us, we brightly welcome a new month and a softer, more unhurried side of winter. As we savour these gentle days, we equally and eagerly unveil our first exhibition of the year, setting a shining stage and an upbeat tone for our next chapter. Ever revived and encouraged by our collection and all that lies ahead, we invite you to join us as we indulge in an interlude of simple pleasures.
This month the gallery is delighted to unveil its first exhibition of the year, running from 13 February - 8 March. Bringing together a vibrant collection of paintings and sculpture from Terence Clarke, Philip Hearsey, Julian Mason, Rupert Aker and Alan Smith, ‘Antidote’ delivers a powerfully restorative injection of light, colour and movement to counter even the darkest of winter days. Extending beyond escapism, the gallery’s newest exhibition refocuses attentiveness to colour and form, reviving a sense of appreciation for these most fundamental of elements that prove potent as any balm. Rooted in impressionistic observation, the tonic of vivid palettes and tactile surfaces found within the collection create a visual language that feels bright, bold and unapologetically joyful. Reawakening the senses and lifting the spirit, this mixed show celebrates the charged, transformative power of fine art at its very core.
Over the past few months, the gallery has completed a number of restorations for clients looking to give their artwork a new lease of life, ranging from basic cleans to more extensive repairs. With proper maintenance, the joys of fine art can last a lifetime and beyond—and the start of the year is the most fitting of times to review such considerations. So if any of the pieces within your collection could do with some attention, do get in touch with the gallery to get a free, no obligation quote.
Pausing in the peaceful quiet of winter’s warm embrace, we take a moment to step back and admire the jewels within our collection with fresh eyes and renewed perspective. From finely detailed figurative pieces to impressionistic landscapes, the rich tapestry of work adorning the gallery walls is a perpetual pleasure we may return to time and time again, each gaze yielding a new experience. Combined with expected arrivals in the coming weeks from artists including Colin Wilson, Tina Spratt, Carl Whitfield and Rupert Aker, there is much to discover within our ever-growing collection.
We hope you will enjoy our February Newsletter. As ever, we thank you for your patronage and look forward to welcoming you to the gallery soon.
