Savouring these last, precious days of summer before the next seasonal shift, we greet you with warmth, gratitude and a sense of excitement for what lies ahead. With news of upcoming exhibitions, award-winning artists and an outstanding collection of new work to explore, this month’s newsletter brings the very best of York Fine Arts into delightful focus.
With great excitement, we are delighted to announce that our highly anticipated, fourth annual Sean Durkin solo exhibition opens at the start of next month, running from 3-26 October. Shining a light on Britain’s industrial past, Sean Durkin’s work brims with grit and his own wry sense of humour. Interested in the collective struggles and merrymaking of ordinary working people, Sean challenges preconceived notions and readjusts the gaze of the viewer, offering back the boundless pleasures of fine art into the hands of all. With such timeless and relatable work, Sean has unsurprisingly grown a voracious and loyal collector base over the years. With many pieces snapped up before opening day from the preview catalogue alone, this first look is a must have for collectors hoping for the first pick of the collection.
A huge congratulations to contemporary artist Annie Luke Turner, who has recently been selected as a Finalist for the Women in Art Prize 2025 in the Abstract Art category. Now in its 8th year, The Women in Art Prize discovers and elevates emerging female Artists across the UK and overseas. From thousands of entries, each year it selects just 22 visionaries poised to reshape the art world, with an additional spotlight on one international talent. We couldn’t be happier for Annie on this fantastic and well deserved achievement.
