A smoky, tumescent sky hangs low over the chimneys of Beneath the Foundry Gate, the darkened silhouettes of a bygone industry, standing tall and starkly beyond the town. The street is alive with the lunchtime bustle, as mothers with their baby carriages shop for supper supplies, while men in flat caps get their fill of ‘War Horse’ tobacco.
