<p>A magnificent recent work by Tina Spratt, <em>The Promise </em>is a magnetic, lavish coup. The sitter, in classical repose, with her dark shining hair loosely scooped, wears a dress of regal purple. Sensuously illuminated, <em>The Promise </em>holds many secrets, as the centre figure looks out, perhaps scornfully, perhaps longingly, and it is up to us to decipher the story behind this wondrous new painting. </p>
