George Atkinson was born in Yorkshire in 1945 and was brought up on his parents farm. George quickly developed a love of the great outdoors and would often be found sat on a haystack sketching the surrounding landscape. When he was 14yrs old, his uncle introduced him to the magic of photography and gave him an old camera to experiment with. This opened up a whole new world for George and his sketching days became a distant memory. George eventually came back to his first love, painting, and he now paints from his extensive collection of photographic material which captures his first and foremost love, the English countryside.
