York Fine Arts Newsletter: September-2015

September brings the precious final days of summer, and with it, the arrival of new work by Edward Hersey, Raymond Campbell, Michael James Smith, Carl Whitfield, Wayne Westwood, Les Spence and Richard Telford. Raymond Campbell’s new painting ‘Elegant Indulgence’ (pictured left) has left us utterly captivated. Its understated composition allows the eye to relax and revel in the beauty of simple pleasures: soft rays of light, the smooth sheen of porcelain and the rich scents of creamy cheese and ripened fruits.
With much excitement, York Fine Arts is proud to announce our newest exhibition, ‘Painters of Precision: Carl Whitfield and Michael James Smith’. The exhibition brings together for the first time an exceptional collection of work by celebrated Yorkshire wildlife artist Carl Whitfield and the highly collectible British landscape artist Michael James Smith. While the content of their work may differ, the work of these two artists demonstrates an unparalleled attention to detail that allows the organic beauty of the natural world to speak for itself.
The exhibition opens next week on Thursday, the 10th of September and runs until Sunday, the 27th of September. However, due to high levels of interest from collectors and first time buyers alike, an early viewing is highly recommended. A preview catalogue will be available upon request, and will be sent out a few days before the exhibition opens. If you would like to receive this exclusive first look, please do let us know.
We are also proud to announce that Michael John Ashcroft has been selected to exhibit at the prestigious New Light Prize Exhibition 2015. The exhibition recognises and celebrates Northern artists and the high quality of art currently being created in the North. It will open in October at the Bowes Museum, and subsequently tour to the Mercer Art Gallery in Harrogate in February, and finally finish in London.
The gallery will be receiving some new Yorkshire landscape paintings from Ashcroft in the near future, so be sure to keep checking our Recently Acquired page to see these, as well as the rest of our newly available pieces.
We wish you the best, and look forward to seeing you soon.
