York Fine Arts is delighted to present, 'Masters of Perspective: Colin Wilson and Tina Spratt', a mixed show of paintings and pastels by still life artist Colin Wilson and figurative artist Tina Spratt. Two exceptional contemporary artists making their mark on their respective genres, Colin and Tina apply their acute observation and insightful precision to reveal new truths and captivate the senses. From redefined realities to rich and essential incarnations of the female gaze, visitors are invited to view the world through fresh and inquisitive eyes, challenging the assumptions of our everyday perspectives.
Colin Wilson takes a contemporary approach to his still life paintings, ingeniously evolving the genre for the 21st century. Confidently exploring negative space and the interaction of visual planes, Colin creates commanding compositions that are as bold as they are painstakingly precise. Though he works primarily within the realm of photorealism, Colin carefully chooses subjects and compositions that push the boundaries of the style and redefine the parameters of contemporary still life. A young artist brimming with promise and potential, Colin’s unique vision and superlative execution have made him one of the most exciting still life artists in the country today.

Tina Spratt brings an empowering feminine perspective to figurative art. Masterfully wrapping her subjects in layer upon layer of intimacy, narrative and aesthetics, Tina reveals women who are intriguingly complex; they are delicate and vulnerable while simultaneously projecting unapologetic strength and sensuality. Leaving no fabric, shadow or fleeting glance unobserved, her work captures both the beauty and authentic integrity of everyday moments. Her work has been selected for many international exhibitions and competitions, including the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, the Art Renewal Centre Salon Competition, the Pastel Journal’s ‘Pastel 100’ Competition, the annual BP National Portrait Competition in London and the prestigious Figuritivas 15 competition at The European Museum of Modern Art.
The exhibition opens at York Fine Arts on Friday, 16th of September and runs until Sunday, 16th of October 2022. Due to expected high volume of interest in the show, an early viewing is recommended. Preview catalogues will also be available upon request.
