Bounding into spring with renewed energy and enthusiasm, we brightly greet a new season defined by fresh beginnings and bright possibilities. With blue skies overhead, inspiring exhibitions on the horizon, and exciting new additions to our collection, there is a tangible sense of momentum here at the gallery. With much to discover within, we simply cannot wait to share our latest updates with you all.
Now in its final days, 'Antidote', the gallery’s first exhibition of the year has proved as powerful as its namesake, delivering an uplifting and restorative burst of energy for our senses and spirits with its tonic of light, colour and movement. Rooted in impressionistic observation, the exhibition features a vibrant collection of work from Terence Clarke, Philip Hearsey, Julian Mason, Rupert Aker and Alan Smith that feels bright, bold and unapologetically joyful. Charged and transformative, this is an exhibition not to be missed.
This month the gallery is also excited to annouce the next exhibition of our 2026 programme: Into Focus. Bringing together the work of leading artists Colin Wilson, Andrew Talbot, Tina Spratt and Ian Rawling, this mixed show pays tribute to precision, observation, and refined technique. Through meticulous detail, thoughtful composition, and masterful use of light and texture, the work of these artists invites viewers to slow down and engage. Senses become heightened and a quiet narrative unfolds, unveiling layers of meaning and beauty that give weight to the subject and challenge initial perceptions. Through each painstakingly crafted piece, that which was once hazy, hidden, forgotten or overlooked is brought magnificently Into Focus.
As blossoms and buds begin to unfurl around us, so too does the gallery bloom with new additions to our collection. This month we have welcomed work from Ian Rawling, Andrew Grant Kurtis, Tina Spratt, Carl Whitfield, Alex Hill, Edward Hersey, Richard Telford, Alan Smith, Jay Nottingham, Amanda Jackson, Natalie Stutely, Stephen Park and Rupert Aker. New bronzes are also soon expected from sculptors Michael Simpson, Dean Kendrick and Keith Sherwin. So do remember to periodically check our Recently Acquired page to see these and any other new additions to arrive in the coming weeks. But as ever, if there is anything specific you are seeking for your collection, do speak with a member of gallery staff who would be happy to note your requirements and either source or notify accordingly.
